Breast Augmentation
PROCEDURE DETAILS
Patient presented with hypomastia desiring augmentation. Patient underwent breast augmentation with Mentor MemoryGel XTRA smooth round silicone implants in the submuscular (underneath the pectoralis muscle) plane using an inframammary fold incision.
Breast augmentation remains one of the most sought-after cosmetic procedures, granting women the power to refine their bodily proportions and bolster their self-esteem. For this patient, the journey began with a challenge many women face: hypomastia, or underdeveloped breasts. Such conditions can, at times, impact self-perception and emotional well-being.
The choice to use Mentor MemoryGel XTRA smooth round silicone implants was a calculated one, tailored to the patient’s unique anatomy and aesthetic goals. Mentor, a brand synonymous with quality, offers these particular implants known for their durability, natural feel, and consistency. The “MemoryGel” denotes a unique cohesive gel structure that mimics the feel of natural breast tissue, ensuring that augmentation doesn’t compromise the natural tactile experience.
Positioning the implant in the submuscular plane, beneath the pectoralis major muscle, is a common approach that offers several benefits. This technique often results in a more natural drape of the breast tissue, decreases the visibility and palpability of the implant, and can reduce the risk of certain complications, such as capsular contracture.
The incision made along the inframammary fold, the natural crease where the breast meets the chest wall, allows for both a concealed scar and optimal implant positioning. This incision type remains a popular choice due to its direct access and the minimal visibility of any post-operative scarring.
Beyond the physical transformation, breast augmentation often provides a profound emotional and psychological uplift. For many patients, the journey is not just about enhancing their physical appearance but also about reconnecting with a sense of self-confidence and femininity.
