Asian Rhinoplasty
PROCEDURE DETAILS

Patient presented desiring improvement in the appearance of her nose. On exam, patient was noted to have a flat nose with wide nostril base and undefined nasal tip. Nose lacked projection and definition. As such, patient underwent open rhinoplasty with dorsal augmentation using silicone implant, tip modification with ear cartilage graft and lateral osteotomy (to narrow the width of the nose). Note the improvement in height, projection and tip definition. Patient was also able to breath better. She underwent a basic Asian rhinoplasty, which include a number of procedures to achieve the following: increased dorsal height and tip projection, narrowing of the width of the nose, improved tip definition, and narrowing of the base of the nose. Height of the nose can be increased with a number of options, including silicone implant, rib cartilage or dermis-fat graft. The decision to proceed with one over the other options depend on a number of factors, including patient and surgeon preference, the availability of donor tissue and the desired outcome.
