Breast Reconstruction
PROCEDURE DETAILS
Patient presented with left-sided breast cancer. Patient opted to proceed with autologous breast reconstruction using her own tissue from the abdomen (autologous breast reconstruction, DIEP flap). Skin sparing mastectomy was performed followed by immediate replacement of breast volume and skin with DIEP flap taken from her abdomen. Breast reconstruction in this patient may also include: 1) Nipple-areolar tattooing with or without creation of a nipple mound through surgery; 2) Fat grafting to improve form, volume and symmetry of breast; 3) Reduction and/or augmentation of the contralateral breast for symmetry.
