V-Line Facial Countouring

About V-Line Surgery

At Nuveau Plastic Surgery, we offer a chin and jaw reduction surgery called the V-line facial contouring surgery. If you are concerned about the shape and size of your chin and lower jaw, then this is the right surgery for you.  Many people prefer an oval-shaped face over the square-shaped face. Many people are calling our office to request a plastic surgery consultation with our experienced plastic surgeon, like Dr. Edward Lee, who has specifically trained in Asian plastic surgery techniques. This surgery was popularized in South Korea and other Asian countries but it is not just for Asian patients!

The V-line facial contouring surgery is a chin and jaw reduction surgery that has seen an increase in popularity in United States as well. This surgery can dramatically change the shape of your face (from square to oval). If you are interested in this procedure, please call our office in Houston, TX for a consultation appointment to get started.

Ideal Candidates

The best candidates for V-line facial contouring surgery are anyone who is interested in changing the shape of the lower face from a square-shaped face to a oval (or a “V”) shaped face. Candidates will need to be healthy enough for surgery lasting 3 – 5 hours under a general anesthesia. During your consultation, we will discuss your medical history, what your facial features would look like with the V-line reshaping, and set realistic aesthetic goals while making your plastic surgery treatment plan.

Surgical Techniques

The V-line facial contouring surgery is typically performed in an in-patient setting under general anesthesia. This surgery may require 3 – 5 hours for completion. The amount of time to perform this surgery will be dependent on whether you have surgery on the chin, the jaw or both. There will be no external incisions if you are doing a typical v-line surgery. All of the incisions are made within the mouth for either (chin or jaw) procedure. The chin is reshaped into a T-shape, which will make it a narrow and sharpened contour. The jaw, or the lower portion of the mandible, is cut into or shaved down to the desired aesthetic look.

What To Expect

Once the surgery is complete, we will insert a drain to keep fluids from building up on the treatment area. This will be removed before your discharge. We will also provide you with a chin-strap to keep your jaw in alignment. Most plastic surgeries are performed in an out-patient setting, however, with V-line facial contouring, our patients are generally kept overnight. We will monitor your vital signs, pain, drainage, and how well you recover from surgery.

You can expect to be swollen for at least 1 – 2 weeks post-surgery. We recommend that you stay on a liquid and/or soft diet during this time. It is very important to make all your post-operation follow-up appointments with our team.
