About Restylane Injections

Ideal Candidates
Both men and women are candidates for a Restylane injection, but you must be 21 years of age to receive this filler. If you have thin lips, noticeable lines at rest near our mouth and nose, or deep lines that form between your brows, Restylane can be used to fill in these areas so that a softer appearance resides on the surface. Restylane works great to augment the lips as well. So if you are unhappy with the fullness of your lips, this filler may be a great option for you. If you have sagging skin or desire a more dramatic or long-term outcome, a surgical procedure may be a better option and can be discussed during the consultation.
Procedure Technique
Restylane injections take place inside our minor procedures room. In most cases, we will apply a numbing ointment prior to the injection to help minimize discomfort. The product is injected into the skin through a fine needle, and messaged under the skin so that if properly fills the area that needs volume. Multiple injections will be needed and will be administered in layers, followed by a cold gentle compress to help control swelling. Each Restylane product is administered the same way. They just target different areas of the face according to your specific needs and aesthetic goals.
What To Expect
After the injection process has been completed, you can return to work or resume normal activities. The injection sites will appear slightly red and swollen, but this goes away in a few hours. Your recovery will depend upon what was actually being treated. For example, it generally takes 3 – 4 days for the lips to look and feel normal after lip augmentation. Bruising can be a factor in some areas, which may also lengthen the recovery. It is recommended to avoid exercise for 24 hours and to sleep upright for the first night. The great news about Restylane, is that you will notice your results immediately after treatment. It make take 1 – 2 full weeks for the final results to take shape, but when they do, the face will appear fuller, softer, and smoother. Restylane injections, depending on the exact product used, can last up to a year or longer.
